The Washington Post reported today that Assistant Managing Editor Bob Woodward was deposed on Monday by Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald regarding conversations with three current or former Bush administration officials.
According to Woodward's own published statement, he testified that a current or former Bush administration official told him in June 2003 that Joseph Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, was a CIA analyst working on weapons of mass destruction. Woodward testified after that official approached Fitzgerald and told him of the conversation with Woodward.
Each of the three officials (one of whom is Lewis Libby) had previously given a written waiver for reporters to testify, and Woodward states that each confirmed the waivers this month. Woodward has not been released to name his source publicly.
