Now You See It ...
Better put, here you see them, there you don't. In a more or less--shall I say it--Solomon-like decision in McCreary County v. ACLU,the Supreme Court on Tuesday held that while a monument to the Ten Commandments may remain in place on the grounds of the Texas state capitol building, printed versions of the Ten Commandments hanging on the walls of two Kentucky courthouses did not pass muster under the First Amendment. In a decision that is sure to disappoint as many people as it will please, it is apparent that context is key. Whether this will clarify or muddy the waters remains to be seen.
